Employee Handbook Review and Composition

Employee handbooks are an important part of any employee relations program. When properly written, handbooks can play an essential role in communicating a company’s benefit plans, policies, and standards of performance.  Handbooks also encourage fairness--thereby reducing potential liability issues--and add to employee morale and loyalty.

Legal requirements from both state and federal laws can be very confusing and complicated.  Once a company makes the decision to implement an employee handbook, there must also be a commitment to the upkeep.  The ever-changing laws are hard to follow, but if a handbook falls out of compliance, the advantages listed above are lost, not to mention a higher potential of legal issues.

As an employer you want to feel confident that your employees not only receive your policies and handbooks, but understand them. If your workforce requires having policies and handbooks written in Spanish as well as English, SDEA can help. SDEA now offers translation services for your policies and manuals into Spanish. Not only will your employees be able to understand the policies your organization has, but you will feel confident that the HR fundamentals have been translated accurately by Bi-lingual HR Experts. See below for more information on our handbook services, and contact Jessica Zaldivar for information on your translation needs.

SDEA offers two primary handbook options for our members:

1)    SDEA can develop an employee handbook from scratch. This process involves minimal involvement from the company, literally taking the project “off your desk”.  We start with some simple fact-gathering to get an idea of your company philosophy and environment as well as what benefits you offer.  That, along with requirements specific to your company size and industry, will get us well on our way to a compliant document that fits your needs and company mission and vision.

2)    SDEA can review and update a handbook.  This process involves an electronic copy of the company handbook which SDEA will review for compliance and then make the updates directly to the document.  Changes are highlighted so the company is made aware of any areas in which they were deficient and with a simple click of a button, you have a newly updated handbook.

The price of using a consultant or attorney to develop and/or review an employee handbook can be very costly; SDEA will assist members with the process for a competitive fee.  Let SDEA help remove the burden of developing or reviewing your company handbook and allow yourself more time to see to other matters.

Email info@sdea.com or call 858-679-7332 for more information on either of these services.
